You're A Gem

Fun Stampers Journey has rolled out their Follow Your Heart campaing. Can you guess what it's about? If you said Valentine's Day, you are correct.  Lots of really cute Valentine themed items in this mini catalog and even some that can be used beyond the holiday. Tonight I decided to play around with the You're A Gem ATS.  I personally will be using this little wonder for birthday cards in my online birthday group.  The group that I'm "in charge" of are called Emeralds so this stamp is perfect.

I started out with a piece of light green card stock and I arranged my various gem stamps on my "I" block and using a Clear Pigment Fusion ink pad, I layerd the stamps all over the cardstock.  I then covered the images with clear embossing powder and heat set it. Now for the fun part...using a sofft sponge, I swiped Kiwi Slice pan pastel over the cardstock and it really made the gems "pop" off the paper.

Next I tied a "knot" using Limeade Splash satin ribbon and I used Spellbinders Die D-Lites You're A Gem Etched Dies to cut 2 gems from some scraps of green glitter paper. Using Kiwi Slice Fusion ink pad on Whip Cream cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from the Real Gems ATS, cut it out and used my corner punch to round the edges.  Popped it up with Journey foam squares and affixed the front panel to a Kiwi Slice A2 card base.

This is such a quick and simple card. It was nice to take a break from the holiday preparations and just make a birthday card for a special lady.  Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your evening.

Skellie Treat Boxes

Afternoon lovies! Today is National Card Making Day and I've had very little time to play since I've been creating this site.  However, I did get a couple of treat boxes made that I'm going to use as a 3D project at my next card class.  So sit back and relax and I'll tell you how these were made.
I started with a 12 x 12 sheet of printed paper from the Fall-O-Ween prints (PP-0060). Such a beautiful, versatile set that can be used for both Halloween and Thanksgiving cards and projects. At any rate, I cut the sheet into 6 x 6 squares and used an envelope punch board to score, notch and fold.  I'll attach the tutorial for them at the bottom of this post.  After I had constructed 4 boxes, I set them aside to make the embellishments.
I stamped a skeleton from the Skeletons Dance bundle (BD-0425) onto Whip Cream card stock (CS-0040) using Black Licorice True Color Fusion Ink Pad (IP-0041). I then cut the skellie out using the matching die, stamped a sentiment in the same way and cut it out also. I colored the skellie with Journey Color Burst pencils (JM-0077) and then painted a light layer of Journey Glaze (AC-0003) over him to make him appear as though he's glowing.

For the 2nd box I stamped an image from the same stamp set onto Black Licorice card stock (CS-0003) using clear pigment ink (IP-0102). I then covered them image with Journey White embossing powder (IP-0098) and heat set it with my Journey Heat Gun (TO-0083). I cut the image out using the coordinating die.
I then mounted the skeletons onto the boxes with small Journey Foam Squares (AD-0084) and the same with the sentiment. Lastly, I punched a small hole in the top flaps and cut a piece of Pumpkin Patch ribbon (AC-0334) to tie closed the top. Each treat box will hold 1 fun size candy bar or 3 Hershey nuggets.  Happy Halloween!

Gnome for the Holidays

Afternoon lovlies.  When I saw this Gnome for the Holidays (BD-0432) set in the Holiday Trends mini, I just knew I had to have it. They are so dang cute and truthfully remind me of the Robertson's from Duck Dynasty. You can judge who is who.  I decided to make a preliminary Christmas card and those that know me know that I don't usually do whimsical Christmas cards, but how could I resist those little guys?

I went with a Double Z fold card...because I love them. My card base is Candy Apple (SC-0007) with Kiwi Slice (CS-0016) mat and Whip Cream (CS-0040) on top of that.  I stamped the gnomes onto Whip Cream cardstock using Black Licorice (IP-0041) color fusion ink pad and I used my Journey Color Burst pencils (JM-0077) to color the little guys and then the matching dies to cut them out. So easy.  The Sentiment is stamped using Kiwi Splash (IP-0024) color fusion ink pad.  I also used the Kiwi Splash to stamp the holly clusters and then just colored in the berries.

I also stamped the "Gnome for the Holidays" sentiment onto Whip Cream card stock using Kiwi Slice color fusion ink pad and then used the matching die to cut it out.  It is popped up using Journey foam squares (AD-0084).  Some splattered Silver Silk (IP-0090) (which doesn't show in the pictures very well) and my card was complete.

Thanks for looking and I'm already thinking of ways to use these little guys on birthday cards all year round.  Be sure to visit my Fun Stampers Journey store to take home your Gnomes today. Remember that all ink pads and solid card stock are on sale (20%) off during the month of September. Stock up on all those holiday colors!
